clicking cv joint

Post by ikedogg »

would it be cheaper to replace my cj joint independently or to just buy a whole new front axleshaft?

you buy the entire axles. They dont make a "quick-boot" for the car.

I think I am understanding what you are asking but I would just look at replacing cv joints if your are talking the whole axle ( which I don't think you are that is nuts ) but if you are asking about the cv axle then I am pretty sur that it is easier and cheaper just to replace the whole axile I dson't know prices down there but yeah I would think it is have it looked at and it doesn't hurt to get more than one qoute dude.

you have to remove the axle anyway to change the CV boot, so there is no advantage cost wise to just do the boot. Just have them put in a new reman'd axle.

I had both axels replaced and the whole axels were $75 us a peice and the shop put them on for $150 labor so it is kind of cheap but definatley better than the knocking noise. I drove mine until they broke and I couldn't go anywhere so replace while you can still drive it there!!!

I too had this problem, cracked cv boot covers at first then the ticking started, especially on prolonged cornering on hwy ramps. I replaced the entire thing. :D
