tranny question regarding BPT

Post by PAJboy2785 »

I have a bpt about to go into my mx3. i lined up the transmission from the mx-3 and it fit like a glove on the BPT. Will this work, i cant see why not, or is there a reason why the mx-3 tranny wont work on the BPT.

PS: its a 92 RS 5spd car and tranny

since it's a sohc you shouldn't have any problems with fitment as the passenger side cv axle should be one piece, unlike the two piece dohc setup.

if you plan to make some power with the bpt, you might want to look into the pro lx/egt tranny.
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

Yes, it will fit, however you'll have to run the flywheel and clutch from the Mx-3 also. The clutches are a different diameter btwn the BP's and B6's (BP being larger).

Ashley is right about the longer axle on the passenger side. Major torque steer would be present if you were to use the Mx tranny as well.

The GTX engines should use the better G25M-R or G5M-R trannys from the Protege LX, Tracer, or Escort GT.
