colours, and hood pins?
hey, i plan on painting my car. It's the stock 95 dark blue (looks purple to me). I wanted to know what colour people think the mx-3 looks best in. i don't want a expensive paint job, just something that looks better. I was thinking either bright blue, or white, or black. I want to stay with like normal car colours not orange. But yellow is in right now. You guys tell me. Help me out. thanks. Oh ya, what does everyone think about maaco? better get maaco or not? thanks guys! P.S saw the thing on hood pins, how much are they? I mean for everything?

i'm in the same situation..i went to maaco and asked to get the whole car redone in metallic black and take out all the dents and they said $950USD...i'm thinkin bout it..i havent heard good things about maaco tho...i think black looks good on the MX-3
Re: colours, and hood pins?
A couple friends of mine have had some bad experiences with maaco. They did have it redone for free but they went back about 5 times for them to finally get it right. I would stay away from them. Also, if you are going to change the change the color of the car it will be more expensive if you want to make it look right.Originally posted by 213alex213:

Re: colours, and hood pins?
you get what you pay for MOST of the time, if you spend 3000 you could get a crappy job and get ripped off, also if you spent 900 you might get lucky and the prep guy was having a good day and the painter was having a good day and your car COULD come out like a show car. But these are not common.
if you want a car that looks good in pics and from 50-100 feet away then go for the cheap job, but expect imperfections in the finish of the paint, some over spray in the wheel wells, paint on the trim, from a poor tape and prep job, a slight wavieness in the doors from not block sanding, stuff like this.
