redding out altezzas.. FINALLY someone does it.. add a few more coats and it'll get darker and no you didn't ruin em... one question, what are you going to do about the reverse light? it can't be red or else its illegal.. well down here and most of us it is.

Re: Did I RUIN my new Altezzas??
I was going to get some altezzas and do them in black as well...but I was wondering how hard it was to seperate the lense from the light assembly. And, Darren Hyderman, what kind of paint or whatever did you use?

I thought a very long time about how to solve this problem and came up with some ideas that just didnt seem right.
~ Mask off little circles where back up light is
~ make a cool design or logo
~ try not to paint that area.
None of those were really feasable because once I put a layer of paint on top of the masked area, when I pull it off, I did not want to risk pulling the rest of the paint off with it.
Also, it would leave an indention where the mask was and look "el cheapo".
So, I am screwed-- oh well. I was anyway with my old stock lights when I painted them too. I never got busted for it because most of the time, I try to back into a parking space so I dont have to use the back-up light when pulling out.
So, I am driving illegally pretty much. But I really wanted to do this mod-- I really didnt care.
Any thoughts?
(BTW-- this is something that Brian (Mnemonic) and I have been brewing up for a while... it just took this long to come to fruition because I was the 1st to get Altezzas between the 2 of us.)
[ August 02, 2003: Message edited by: atlantamx3 ]

Re: Did I RUIN my new Altezzas??
actually i wanted to do the same thing.. but i had the same solution as you, and was too scared to do it.. the only legal and clean alternative is to rewire the reverse light to some fog lights mounted under the bumper.. to stay safe and legal and to keep the altezza looking clean without a masked circle messing the look up.
