Inside door panels...

I wanna redo my door panels to get rid of that nasty looking fabric that comes with it. I was thinking bout replacing it with vinyl..but most say its pretty tough..even Barry doesn't recommend it. I bought some Rit black dye... has anyone tried dying them..cuz I don't wanna take out that cloth cuz i tried it on a spare door and its a <BR>son of a gun to get out. Can it be sponged on or does anyone know of any other way to color them black without taking the cloth off. Any help would be appreciated.
