Question. removing the guage from a 93.

Post by Diablo »

Hey Guys. I tried to remove the guage from my 93 mx3(too paint the border). and had a little hard time doing so. the online shop manual is for a 94+, and i did a search on the board and didn't find any instructions on removing the guage.
basicly i unscrewed the 3 screws on the top of the guage and tried to remove it, but the lower part of the guage is under the bottom of the dash. i removed the 2 screws i found under my leg and removed the hood release but was not able to remove the section. I wasn't too rough in the process so that i don't break anything. but i was wondering what would be the best way to remove the guage. (any hidden screws, or just a big pull)
cheers

there are five screws to remove the gauge surround. You got the top three there are two hidden behind the rubber flaps hidden behind the steering wheel column cover. to get the top part of that steering cover off you need only uncrew one screw. it is the one closest to the floor/fuse box of the four under there. once that one is out give the top cover a tiny pull and it should pop off then drop your steering wheel if it is adjustable to unscrew the last two screws holding the surround on.
hope that answers your question.
