Shift Gate!!!
hey guys im new to this BB. But anyways im making a shift gate for my MX-3. i just thought it would be interesting to have a ferrari/lamborginni style shift gate instead of the traditional shift boot. just wanted to know if anyone had any suggestions or comments. i'll post the pictures when im done but i won't start till the end of the week. once again open for suggestions and/or comments. thanks guys.

Re: Shift Gate!!!
To be able to do that you would have to redo the whole center console.

NO. what i have in mind all you have to do is put the gate in (screw it in). you don't have to redo the center console. i'll have the the picture up as soon as im done. im taking the measurements today. but keep the ideas and comments coming. oh yea i was also thinking of making one out of plexyglass(easier to cut and cheap) then you could put a LED to its side and the whole plate would glow! kinda cool. mabey i will. and i can also use it as a template. thanks again

Re: Shift Gate!!!
Look at the base of the shifter (where the plate will go) and you'll realize that the shifter almost doesn't move at that point. That's why I'm saying that you would have to make the center console higher.<P>The base idea is good but will require more work then it may look at first sight.

Mabey your right. well i'll see what i can do and try to keep the same console. i agree it won't be easy to make, but it will look great when its done. thanks
