Anyone else's ECU go goofy sometimes?

Post by lakersfan1 »

About once a week, I'll start my car and the check engine light will be on and my car will run like it's in diagnostics. All I do is turn the car all the way off, and immediately back on, and it's fine again. WTF is that all about?

I've heard of this before. My friend's GS did the same thing. He went to the junkyard and pulled another GS ECU...never happened again. If it's free or close to it, it's worth a shot. But definitely check other things first...a short or a loose connector on a sensor or something.

Good luck!
BTW, what's the code that you get when it's on?

Nothin. I shut the car off to put the jumper in the diagnostics box, and the CEL is gone already.

How can you test to see if your ECU is bad? Is there a way?

Swap in a "known good" ECU and see if the symptoms go away. Other than that - send it away to a specialist.
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)
