Strange wire hanging down beside the Flexpipe in front o

Post by quicksliver »

While doing an oil change earlier today I noticed a strange wire hanging down right beside that little flexpipe thing in front of the Cat. Inside the wire there is two wires (one green and one white)...both are protected by a grey shielding. It looks as if it was cut or something...

Any suggestions on what this wire could be?

Could it be the O2 sensor wire?

Nope. Check it already, it's fine.

Check the sensors on the tranny. I had one break and it took me doing a motor swap to find it, hehe JK, The manual tranny has 2 sensors and they are tucked in a place hard to see from either side. I'm not sure what colors the wires are, but that may be it. Those are the furthest wires back on the car that I can think of, but they don't go anywhere near the cat., hope this helps.

So what should happen if one of these manual tranny wires isn't connected? Cause my car has and still is running perfectly fine...with the exeception of the car almost stalling out when i push the clutch in and hit the brake to stop (doesn't happen a lot though).

Just checked the wiring diagram - the colours you mentioned are not the clutch switch or the neutral switch.
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)

Yeah, mine broken wire was also the neutral switch and my car would also almost die when I put it in neutral and brake. So double check your wire colors b/c I think that they are both green, one solid and one with a black stripe. The switch is on the side of the tranny closest to the fire wall and looks like a big nut with two wires coming out of it.

All the diagrams show the clutch & neutral switches are wired brown/yellow with black grounds.

The knock sensor is black/light green and yellow/blue.
