radiator cap and overflow bottle

I recently overheated and noticed coolant coming from the radiator cap on the passenger side. Shouldnt the coolant be going to the overflow bottle? Is the cap supposed to allow this? How about the other cap on the radiator? Thanks

The cap on the passenger side is just a filler cap .. it's not spring loaded like a rad cap .. should remain tight. If you rock it a bit while the system is hot .. you should see where it's coming from...the cap itself or there's an o-ring below the plastic flange.<p>Not sure but I think the cap was ... somewhere around $30 .. from Mazda.
