I did a search for this and the onl yhting i found was a ton of references to tech guys site who doesnt have his mx any more.
I know you have to modify the 2.5 headers to fit in the mx-3 but what I wanted to know is how much actuaally needs to be done? Can I do it myself with my cheepo at home welder or do I need muffler shop work done?

Re: moding headers
basically theres to approaches to make the headers fit, any muffler shop can do.
1. there ablut 6in to long at the primaries so u can cut and reweld them to shorten, or
2. move ur cat back to accomodate the extra length.

Re: moding headers
Then there's endless amounts of tuning the headers to adapt to the new length. If you dont spend the time to tune them ur wasting your money.

Re: moding headers
tuning?
Re: moding headers
:sigh:
Don't cut the headers and re-weld the flange in place. That disrupts the whole geometry of the device. You're changing the properties of a carefully tuned piece of equipment that has a very specific purpose.
If you get 2.5L headers than just move your catalytic convertor back to accomodate. You can do that without disrupting the exhaust flow.
