methyl hydrate and emmisions

Post by tyson »

Hello boys and girls,
I just have a quick question. After failing the emissions test here in Vancouver Someone told me that I should put methyl hydrate in the gas tank. Now I know that you usually use this stuff for getting rid of water in the gas but does it actually change your emmisions?
If anyone has done this or has any info please post it.
Thanks Tyson.

I've tried that, and it didn't do me any good. If you're failing emissions, its probably for a good reason, and really, in your best interest to fix it anyway (better gas mileage, etc). My problem ended up being my O2 sensors (even though I never had a check engine light) You're supposed to replace them every 50-60,000 miles

Hey thanks for the reply.
My only problem is I failed because three out of my six cylinders have really low compression. So fixing that is a crazy amount of money. I think rather than rebuild I would probably opt for a Kl engine most likely the 03 just because of price and availability.
Tyson
