feasability of auto to manual Tranny swap

Origionaly the car was purchased with the intent of being a daily driver. However as I spent time in the car intentions changed and I'm begining modifications. The first thing that has to go is the automatic trans, it just isnt right to be cruising along without having a shifter to mash on. If anyone could provide some insight into changing trannys it would be appreciated.
