1 or 2?
Hey, wondering if someone could help me, im geting a sub box that has 2 12" C4 audio subs. each sub Max. Power is 600Watts, total is 1200watts. and they are the exact same subs i had before... i had them runing on this amp Here ... it was a good sound but id like to go bigger if its not that big of a deal.. what i was wondering is, could i do 2 of these amps one to each sub? or would that mess up the sound? or would that not be worth it? or should i just have one amp thats bigger? or should i just stay with one of that amp, cuz its not worth the extra $$ for a little more boom? Any suggestions would be great
Thx,
Ryan
Thx,
Ryan
Re: 1 or 2?
Yes you can. All you need to do is put a divider in your box to seperate the two subs.

Re: 1 or 2?
what is the impedence of the coils on your subs? THat's the factor whether or not it's worth while to use 2 amps. If you the coils aren't right for 1 amp then it's not going to return any extra output putting 2 amps (and actually the drain will be greater on your car so they may even put out less power)

Oh no....I can see his head growing! :p
But seriously, it's all about the impedence, and ohms of the amp, and subs. If you can wire them down to 1 ohms in series and daisy chain the amps (MTX is well knowin' for this) You should be pumping!
Can I get a confirmation on that Bump?

Re: 1 or 2?
Oh...wait a sec! I just re-read your first post! lol When you mean that the max pwr is 600w and the total is 1200w you didn't mean rms! lmao! SOrry dude, I completely read that the wrong way! That amp would blow the **** out of those subs! No matter HOW you wire them
So each sub is 600w max, you wouldn't happen to know the RMS power? or how many voice coils there are? etc....
Although that MTX is a killer amp, it would devistate those subs! lol

Re: 1 or 2?
I konw the older MTX amps used to daisy chain, but I haven't dealt w/ any of the newer stuff (and I know they have been completely redone since I last played w/ them) so I can't verify the daisy chaining.
Post the info on the sub and I'm sure there's an amp out there for you

Re: 1 or 2?
Based on that information, you should be able to wire the subs to either 4 ohms mono or 1 ohm mono. But I bet those subs can't even handle 300 watts RMS a piece. Get an inexpensive stereo amp and bridge it to mono and wire the subs to 4 ohms. I'd say a 100x2 - 150x2 amp bridged should work.Originally posted by RideLoudAndFast:

I've installed one of these in someone's car to good effect:

It's not really worth getting a more expensive amp for those entry level subs.
