relocating rear speakers

Post by marshmallow15 »

i need some tips of relocating my rear speakers.. i was thinking to mount them above the rear panel with the upholstery and just drill a hole and mount my speaker grill there... not sure about the clearance. any other tips? im trying to avoid speaker boxes and etc.
reason why im relocating the rear speakers is because im removing all of the panels in the rear hatch.

if u got good front speakers dish the rears cause the rear speakers ruin the soundstage anyways. but u could put em where the rear armrest is with a little work its been done before.

This is what I did. I took out that hatch cover, and made a new hatch cover with an "encloser" for two 6x9 speakers. There is one picture (out of many) on my car's webpage.
http://www.msu.edu/~leonar40/Car.html
It's pretty easy to make a new hatch cover with the enclosers out of particle board and some automotive carpet.

That's what I did, I put some 6' woofers in the rear armrests. There's plenty of room, just need to customize a cover in the panel.

i was thinking that but it'd be too hard to mount the 5 1/4 there and make it flush because of the curved contours of that armrest.
