How much is a decent alarm system ... with...

Post by Tyler17rose »

I am planning on getting a alarm for my mx-3 with keyless entry. I got a quote today and this is canadian funds ... $365 for everything instaled along with a drivers side actualtor for the keyless entry. Plus tax.
Is this a good price? Should i shop around more? Oh and if it helps its the Clifford Matrix 2 alarm.

I dont know if you have beamriders (http://www.beamriders.com) on the east coast, but they have a special on.
$189 marksman m3 (magnadyne.com) 118db siren, LED, dual stage impact, warning+trigger, 1kill switch- $25 extra kill, $200 +optional pager, keyless entry is extra about $80 extra, flashing lights extra $20.
they use black cables and hide everything behind the firewall. They spend 3.5hrs on the install instead of 2hrs or 30min that Futureshop spends.
There is no install charge, it's all included in the price+tax.

i'd go with that clifford setup. DEI alarms are great products, with a ton of room for expansion. that's a pretty good deal for what you're getting. i got a viper 600 with keyless entry (both doors, had to add power locks), trunk/hood pins, and other little features. probably would have cost about 400 if i hadn't worked at the stereo shop and installed it myself

personaly I would stay away from clifford (you going through pearl?) I find that they are not user friendly at all. In my car I run an alpine sec-8063(top of the line) which I absolutly love but alpine is no longer distributed in canada (or at least not in ottawa) If I were you I would look into viper or python. Both should be around the same price as the clifford (depending where you go.
