Cerwin Vega 6x9's sound really good, and I think you can get a set for around $150-last time I checked. Thats what I would get if I had the cash.
'94 Blaze Red RS<P>I may not have a lot of horsepower but I know how to use it!

Re: Best speakers
6.5 pioneers and some custom mounted door tweeters then get you the Alpine type R 12' subs with a open box and oh yeah you'll be heard.make sure you insulate your car too cause if you dont your will rattle horribly.but make sure you get a good amp cause if you dont you'll be burning up alot of fuses. cause those alpines have some knock
Everytime i try to get a piece of mind... everybody else is tryin to get a piece of mine, so i gotta pull my piece

Re: Best speakers
infinitys are the clearest sounding speaker i've heard to date. Just dont expect much bass for them. Kappas sound better than the references, but even the references hold their own.

Re: Best speakers
my subs give me enough bass for thumpin', but if i want to listen to something aucoustic the infinities are perfect...I think i have a great combo.

Re: Best speakers
I work at Circuit City Roadshop we carry alot of good speakers if u really want a good sounding speaker get some Polk's ( they have more mid bass then most speaker). Now if u want to spend more $$$ then i would recomend getting some components in the front and good speakers in the back 5 1/4 or 6 1/2, now place those on an 4 channel amp.( That will give u the best sound out of ur car...if thats not enought go ahead and get a sub or two, but remember the more subs, the more weight, the slower ur car.. LOL I have Alpine speakers in my car that sound great... But the first thing that i would buy is a nice head unit to start with thats the main thing...
2.5 KL-ZE, BBS rims, I the front i have to falkin Azenis, Intrax Springs, CM Stage 1 clutch, and Fidanza flywheel, Pacesetter short shifter, Tociko Blue Struts, Sparco Steering Wheel, Yellow Top Battery
Alpine Type R Subs 10's, Alpine 2 Channel Amp, Alpine 4 channel
Amp, Alpine Alarm,Alpine Headunit
14.8 @ 94.2(with vaccume lick)

Re: Best speakers
hay well by far the best sound systen u can pit in a car is an eclipse i reacent bought a set a speakers and a head unit i still have to buy one more set of speakers but i dont have the money right now. the head units range from $200-$500 and the speakers r about $150 per pair. the ones to get r the se8262 at 6'5 they put out great sound. altho pricy its worth it
Re: Best speakers
My Preference would be the Nakamichi 6.5's but they are a little hard to find. Very clear sound though. Nakamichi makes pretty solid products.
