Car Audio Experts... I need help

Post by SirCruizer »

Im tring to put a sweet system in my car. Something thats going to be pioneer all the way around unless someone can tell me something better for around the same price range. I think pioneer is going to do the trick to me... I just want to practise untill later when I can put some sweet money in my sound sytem 10K plus... Right now its like 1/10th of that. LOL But if anyone has any experiance with amp racking and stuff like that and can help me with how to get a good bass balance and stuff like that... What I guess Im really lookin for is websites that go into detail on this stuff so I can research and play around with my system.. If anyone can help please email me or respond, that would be awesome thanks... (Im tring not to make a fool out of myself in front of my friends by asking them alot of questions. They are great people but when it comes to helping you out they wont help you out but if you give them money they will do things thier way and not tell you what they are doing) HEHE

Personally, I have had problems with every peice of pioneer equipment I have bought. I eventually went with 2 MTX 12's. They are not that expensive. When you go to buy speakers the first question the sales person asks in what type of amp do you have. Alot of the sound and sound quality comes from your amp. The more you push out the better it sounds. I have never had sony subs. So I cant help you there. What size amp do you have if any yet?

If you are not wanting to spend an ungodley ammount of money and still get good aound quality and bass you might try bazookas or the MTX4000's. You can get 2 bazooka 10's for about 120, or 12's for like 130. The MTX4000 12's are, I think, 2 for 99 at Circuit City. They have a foam ring instead of rubber. The best amp to use with the MTX4000's is the MTX4202. Either one of those systems sound pretty good.

A dual voice coil sub doesnt really hit any harder, you just have more wiring options. The amp(S) depend on the impeedence of the sub(S), brand, and size. Most of the time you should only need one. What type are you looking at?

I was lookin at the pioneer ts-w304dvc which is the cousin of the TS-w304c. It only has 50 watts more RMS and is like 20 dollars more, but someone told me that its worth it cause its so much better and more than just the extra wattage.. I asked him how so and hes shruged and just said "just is"... Well I hate that cause Im thinkin he just saying that cause he wants to think he knows what hes talking about. Obviously there are reasons for DVC because they wouldnt make them if there wasnt, but I just dont know the reasons and if it would be worth the extra money. If I wanted to pay the extra money I would just got MTX or something unless DVC is really more than extra wattage...

In most speakers there is only one voice coil. In a DVC sub there are 2. Besides wattage, there are alot more wiring options. With more wiring options you can make a difference in the way your subs sound. Most of the difference is in the sound quality. Your whole system will determine how clear the subs are. With the right DVC subs, correct wiring, and the right amp to push it you would have a kick a** system. I would just make sure that who ever you go to to install it knows exactly what they are doing, and knows all of the wiring options for those subs, so you can get the best sound possible.

Thanks for the advice. I went to an audio place today to check out some stuff.. I was going to look at bandpass boxes and stuff. Well they have Virtual Tech boxes there which I guess are getting popular here since I hear alot about them but never actully here then. Well the guy there had two 12s in a bandpass box that he played for me and then played ONE 12 in a VT box same sub. Sounded even better than the two 12s in the bandpass. Thanks again for the help everyone... Ill let you know what setup I get. At this time it looks like the start of it will be right before or right after Christmas
