GTRS are usually impossible to find.

You can get a BPT from www.corksport.com there are quite a few other vendors out there tough.. Most of which are cheaper. a BP would have to come from a junkyard. You might be able to find a importer for them

alright, ive narrowed it down to eaither one of these two options:

1.8L T4cyl (BPturbo) w/approx 180 HP, It says on the site it is difficult to install, so im still on the fence for this one. is this actually true or are they jsut saying it?

the other option was the 2.0 V6 (KF-ZE) w/approx 165 hp, not as much HP as the first one, a little cheaper tho, also corksport mentions something about changing the wiring/ECU, mounts tranny, is this neccessary, if so how much will this cost?

Think you have the difficultly backwards. The RS and GS mx-3's are completely different under the hood. I assume you have the RS because you are in the 4cyl forums. Thus, the BP-ZET will be easier tehn any 6cyl.

the difficulty of the bpt swap depends on what year mx you have.. if it is 92/93 with the sohc its pretty easy.. if you have 94 or newer with the dohc its pretty difficult.. and probably better to simply build up the stock dohc

don't just pick the BPT because it says 180hp vs. 130hp. The BP is essentially the same as the BPT minus it doesn't come with a turbo that's too small. Do a search in regular internet search engine for mazda interchangability guide and it will tell you differences of Mazdas B series motors in there. The BP are a dime a dozen to pick up and would reliably handle at least doulbe stock horsepower. It really is a very over built motor for it's task. With the money you save on the BP from BPT, you can buy a proper turbo kit and fuel components for your BP and live happily ever after.

quick short list of regurgitated info that you can find while searching this site. may be missing info from list. Basically, the swap should be very easy any way you do it with the sohc.

Easiest way-

You can put in the BP motor using stock transmission (2 wires differ for VICS from BP harness to our 1.6 sohc harness...). Use BP ecu.
Keep your crappy brakes, weaker transmission... and live happily like that until you can afford more.

Or swap in the rest...

The BP G series transmission is apparently better/stronger.. if you use that, it requires swapping more. engine mounts, cv shafts (possibly hub assembly? don't know if diameter or splines of shafts at hub are different or not).

With that extra power, you can use brakes from Pro LX or Escort GT. etc.

Cheapest way to do it all... pick up a donor vehicle. More expensive way... do a little bit at a time.
