Smell of gas?

When i shut off my car an dget out i smell a strong odar of gas, What could it be? And how to fix it?

I had that for a few reasons. Once, my gas tank was leaking, but only if there was almost a full tank of gas. The second time, the gas cap just wasn't screwed on tight enough. It's worth a look...
