Post by Redlined »

OK im going nuts here
I wanna swap the BPT into my DOHC RS
Have it all planned out just cannot get the answer to a few questions. Ive searched got yes no maybe mixed answers so SOMEONE who has done this or knows PLEASE HELP ME OUT
1. Can I use my tranny or gearbox or what. What do I NEED from the protege LX? My stupid american buddy sam claims i dont need to replace it. lol
2. How the hell do I get a custom CV axle and driveshaft?
3. Where is the best spot to buy a motor, nippon-motors? Flash options?
4. Custom radiator? someone explain this to me please.
I cannot find these answers or ones that I can trust for sure so someone please help me out!

Keep your Tranny, Axles & radiator. No Custom Axles needed.

If you decided to upgrade to a tranny from the Protege LX-(which you SHOULD)- then you would need to get Axles & jack-shaft for the LX.

A great list of parts for this swap as well as some great how to points can be found here:

As to WHERE to buy it-- thats up to you.

a little bit of advice, figure out what you're going to do about fuel control before you even start.(haltech, etc.)
Fast imports only come on two wheels.

yea the haltech will probably cost more than your motor, which isnt a good thing if you only need a daily driver. I've heard good things about the apexi safc, you can get settings from someone else on the board i recall having them. Peace
