Check Engine light is on.

Hey guys,

My check engine light just came on and i have no idea what might be wrong with my car. Please give me any tips if you know what my make my check engine light come on. I have a 93-mazda mx-3, 4 cyld.

check your brake fluid, if you car is running ok.

ill give you my brake fluid if you give me your engine...think i need a new one...damn SOHC's

The check engine light means your ECU (engine computer) has detected a problem. It could be as simple as the oxygen sensor. There is a way to extract an error code that will tell you what the ECU thinks is wrong. More information on these trouble codes (blink codes) can be found at:

The most common causes of check engine light are:

O2 sensor is bad.
Usually because of bad gasoline that messes up the sensor and also they get old.

Distributor.
When starting to fail, little by little the CE light will come on and off until the car dies completely.

AFM
Many bad AFM give signals by running a little rough.

Like others say its time to dust out the Chilton Manual and do your homework.
