blew my tranny

Post by Marlon »

blew my pro lx tranny today
i was doing about 140 on the 401 in 5th and all of a sudden the tires locked up and i skid into the left lane and was about 2 inches from smashing it into the concreat
paid 240 to get it towed and i can't get it into any gear, the tranny is done, i didn't drive it hard or anything

so now i can have 3 options
junkyard tranny 100
rebuilt tranny 1000
lsd tranny 1600

what u think

That sucks bigtime guy!
Glad to hear your allright though, and your mx didnt meld with the concreat.
If you have the quid, the rebuilt or the LSD one because you should at least get some type of warranty with them.

if you can buy the lsd outright (no saving) id go with that but if not buy a JY tranny and then save for the lsd.

Yes they are much stronger than the F seris. but if you do not konw the service history and how the last person treated it there acn be a lot of hidden problems.

Wheel hop kills mazda tranies in record time as well. The tranny locked up as a result of a diffrent problem not because he was driving on a highway.

I would suggest contacting a performance shop and having them rebuild a trans for you and have them inspect the old one for what may have caused the problem so they can attempt to correct it. This is also the most exspensive option on the list.

Same thing happened to me a while back. Ended up I blew a synchro up and in turn locked up the tranny. Must have been the little piece of synchro that flew off and locked it up.

heres what happened
i installed the tranny with my friends and it worked fine for 3 months
it was dripping a little fulid so i found the leak(back up light) and it was fine for 2 weeks then it started to leak again but i couldn't find it this time , so every week i would check the fulid level and it looked fine, but i would look right after driving so the fulid would be splashing arond and get on the gear and look like i had enough fulid
but i didn't when i blew the tranny it was cause i only had one cup of fulid left

the tranny is being rebuilt right now

this rerally pisses me off cause they tranny was good, i installed it right and now i have to get a rebuit tranny for 1000
and all cause i was having some problems at work and home and didn't have time to get under the car and figure out what was going on

what a week and now i'm broke and have EVERYTHING i need to install my turbo but can't afford to get my intercooler piping and downpipe done

ITs okay i am in the same boat. I have enough money to finish my turbo project but most of it has to go to a trannie rebuilt.. 2nd gear syncro is a bit on the toastie side.

Don't hate the player, hate the game.

I have been in days where I just want to pour some gasoline all over the car, fire it up and throw it down a cliff.

But still I have my car now and running good besides all the BS that it makes me go thru.
