Post by tempunlimited »

ok i will try to explain best i can.

i got this car about 4 months ago ran ok had the idle issue .. .. ( imagin ) i am driveing down the street, Stero system Off come to a stop idle drops so i start 2 footing it ( gas and break ) then belt start to squel let off the break still doing it till the idle raises up about 100 rpm .. so i figure turning up the idle will fix it . nope same issue . just @ higher Rpm anyhow this is in the day lets say i am driveing @ night OMG headlights on sterio off same issue but this time its @ every time i hit the break dont have to stop still in gear still moveing but hit the break and it squels so i turn off lights idle for about 10seconds to 4minuts shoot even longer sometimes. till idle jumps back up and belt stops squeling then take off turn light back on ect ect...... well its getting cold now and i wanted to fix the issue people i talked to say its the alternator .... payed 156$ for a brand new one .... retail was 306! .... but it didnt fix the issue it is the same .... nothing changed so i tryed to reset the ECU and same helped nothing ... and i start car belt dont squel but give it a few and it will and have to sit there till the idle picks up .... god only knows how long it will take to jump back up .... mechanics are stumped onlyh way they will find the issue is to tear it down ... i dont have that kinda cash to do that so i am here asking if anyone has any idea how i can resolve this issue .... ohhh yea one more thing lets say i start the Mx3 let it idle back up after the belt squels tun on headlights, heater, push breaks, rear defrost and hazards . the Rpm guage will drop to 0 Rpm every time they come on ... PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE any help would be MUCH helpfull.......

clean the throttle body and get a new PCV valve, sounds like you have a high mileage engine with too much blowby, idle air control motor polluted with dirt 'n oil, basically it sounds like a vaccuum problem. When the alternator is overloaded from the things you mentioned, it loads the engine and that's why it lowers the RPM. Don't forget to check the compression on the engine before you do anything. Good luck.

Belt Squealing= Belt either too tight or too loose.

Idle Problem-- replace the black tube in the center of your Valve cover with a Breather filter from PepBoys/Autozone, then plug up the Intake hose where that tube connected.

See that new little mini-filter?? That solved my idle problem almost completley and cost me $10. Be sure you plug your intake hose where that tube connected-- air tight!
