Rear Brake Lights

Post by Dave68 »

I have just purchased a Jap import '94 Eunos Presso and the rear brake lights don't turn off. I have adjusted the brake switch, which turns the brake lights off initially but after a couple of uses the brake lights come back on. It's as if there is a self adjust funct working somwhere. Can anyone help?

Thanks :crying:

Sounds like sticking contacts within the switch itself. To test it, disconnect wires from it and them check resistance across the switch with an ohmmeter. If resistance is zero (or just a few ohms) the contacts are stuck closed regardless if the break pedal is depressed or not. This should take about 60 seconds or so and will help isolate the problem.

Stan

Thanks for your help. I took the switch out previous to your reply and as it looked fairly worn (I didn't know how to test at that stage so cheers for the info!) I replaced which fixed the prob.

Thanks again.
