Trouble After Car Wash

Post by NateDog »

hey i just washed my car today at the 24hr car wash here in charlotte...
and after i washed it, i started to pull out and my car about died. i thought i was just not pushing the gas enough cause i was wearing sandels. so i tryed to pull out and stomp on it... and my car felt like it was going to die untill i hit 3200rpm's and it kicked hard. my a/f gauge is wacked out now. normally it sways from lean to high ideal, now it hanges out in high ideal and drops to lean when i floor it and jumps to rich when i hit 3200rpm's whats wrong w/ her? it was just a car wash. :(

ya dry out the spark plug holes i did the same thing when i switched my timing belt, washed the engine to get rid of grease ( dumb ) water got in the spark plugs. take them out carfully cause you dont want to ruin the wires like i did ( cause they were old ) and just do your best to get the water out. I used an air compressor to blast it out cause i needed my car fixed right away i dont know if you should do that

You may have sucked a little water into the intake track ( through the air filter ). If water hits the air temp sensor in the MAF, it won't stay running for long. Check that when you get the chance.
