speedometer help!!!!!!

my speedometer when ever it gets cold(works fine when warm) will read up to about 25mph before it makes a very loud humming vibrating noise then it shoots up to about 80 and and just goes up. i may have an idea what could be wrong i think it may be the spring in the cable may be affected by the cold livin down here in florida doesn't get cold much but when it does its like i have arun aaway car cause i don't know how fast im goin if anyone knows or thinks they know what might be wrong and how to fix it i'd appreciate all help and feedback.<BR>thanx ryan

Hey Ryan, try putting some lubricant into the cable housing by first disconnecting the cable from the tranny-in any case, check out the online service manual..I hope this has helped some...Manny :)
