I'm going to do it to my DOHC once I get a bigger alternator(my lights drown out already with the stereo and driving lights)

Re: underdrive crank pulley
those really aren't recommended unless it's put on for track use. for daily driver, it's bad on your engine. granted, it frees up parasitic drag and thus gives out more hp, but the pulley(s) are rarely completely balanced which in turn, messes up your crank in the long run. just my .02

Re: underdrive crank pulley
Bad for the daily driver? Actually I have had mine on since 60k and I am now at 88k and everything is fine. My AC and power steering works just fine. I havent had any probs at all. I have a dry cell battery and it keeps up with my 500 watt stereo system just fine. No probs here!!
quote:
Originally posted by cre8v mx3:
those really aren't recommended unless it's put on for track use. for daily driver, it's bad on your engine. granted, it frees up parasitic drag and thus gives out more hp, but the pulley(s) are rarely completely balanced which in turn, messes up your crank in the long run. just my .02

Re: underdrive crank pulley
The real problem with UD pulleys is the fact that the crank snout on most B6 motors is too short. The new pulleys lack the harmonic balancer that the stock ones have. This causes vibration that eventually wears at the keyway until your crank snout shears off. Just ask any 1.6l Miata owner who has tried this. B6T owners should stay away too.
