I am terribly sorry, and i dont want to ruin your thread.

Even a 1992 ferrari has more than 29000 KMS. Why the hell do people think, others are this dumb to believe that a 1992 323 has never been driven over 29000. And WTF is up with these KLZEs that they claim they have only 40000 KMs maximum, its been about 2 weeks that im carless, why, because some scam claimed that it only had 35K KMs. If you have a proof that this isnt true about your engine, i will take my comments back and ....

just wanted to say, thats enough BS about these Japanese engines.

Hey man, a lot of them come out of wrecked cars-- and I think they have to pay a huge tax if the engines have more than a certain # of miles on them.

Thats what I hear..I may be wrong.

Its true that in japan that many of the engines over their are low mileage cause it winds up being cheaper to buy a new car as opposed to keeping the old one. Problem is everyone gets all "JDM" crazy and holds it up as gold..when in actuality, you can get alot of these parts over here and in most cases even us usdm parts on JDM motors. Its all hype personally. The real issue is the verification of the actual mileage. In some cases, alot of parts get gittle and broke in transport and unless someone has personally performed a complete leakdown/compression test and can trace the vehicles mileage/km, then you always run a risk of a scam.

True enough.
I explained to my buddy from Honk Kong about how Japanese cars supposedly produce more power (whether or not they do, and yes I realize that HK is part of China), and he was dumbfounded. He couldn't understand why, after cruising Canadian roads with me, why you would want more power to go faster in the streets of Japan because it's so densely populated.
I know that most Japanese recers either go track or highway (Wangan), but that accounts for such a small percent, not to mention that their cars are really tuned. So why does the general market need so much more performance?

Good luck with that GTR
Cheers.

I have seen this engine IN PERSON, and I can confirm that it looks like its damn near new! It does has 29,000 on it! Its a super rare japanese engine of which 2000 exist on this planet...why wouldn't it have low mileage?

There is a law in Japan supposidly that once your engine hits 30,000-40,000miles you have to swap it out or get a new car. This is one reason why we get the JDM engines with very low miles, also like Perry said they come out of wrecked cars as well. So its not BS its very possible. The engines CorkSport sells say they usually have approx 30,000 miles on them.

About scam...I suspect Streetimports.com of being suspicious. I'll eat my words if they're not, but they give me a serious 'bandwagon; vibe.

actually after living in okinawa japan for 3 years i learned that it is hard to keep older cars because after 30,000km you have to change your engine and exhaust for emissions puposes that is why JDM engines have 30,000 and 40,000km on them.

I'd been living in Japan until I was 18. The main reason JDM engines have low milage is because we just don't drive much. We got common transportations, like buses, city trains, etc, and they cost less. Keeping car requires you to pay for tax, some big maintenance called 'sha ke n' every a couple of years that'll cost you about $1000 (required by law), etc.. I was not driving cars in Japan, and there must be more fees or hidden cost people pay over there. I was more like cab (taxi) guy since it's so convenient. The cab driver used to tell me that they don't make much profit once the economy went sour.

Oh well, everything's pretty close, so they don't drive like a couple of miles to supermarket because every mile or so, they have more than one supermarket, etc.

About the year, even my dad used to change his car at least every 4 or 5 years. Pretty much everyone change his/her ride every 5 or 6 years. It doesn't mean the car is bad, and most people don't drive like 100k km (about 60k miles) for sure. If we drive that much, it sure will go to scrap yard (not junk yard). Nobody's gonna pay a penny for that kind of engines.

One more thing. Japanese cars are actually cheaper in Japan, and all those taxes to import them to here (probably) raise their price so high. I paid about $18000 for my 95 mx-3, but I'm pretty sure it's like $12000 over in Japan.

Well, I tried to reason with them, and ship me a motor in CANADA.. They won't do it. They only sell in the USA. But they are located somewhere near Toronto in Ontario. There phone number got that regionnal code.

I was told they got a warehouse near New York city by them on the phone.. So that's why they won't sell me an engine in Canada.. but hey, they DID wanted to sell me one 6 months ago..
