Hey...what's the chances that there will be room for one more tent...anyones spot...just for one night? My wife isn't coming down now but I'm making it a "boys" weekend. Staying over the night we arrive and heading out to Penticton the next morning.

I've added you on to the list. Are you planning to meet up with us at the Hwy 97 & Westside Rd. junction, or just meeting us at Fintry? It could be tricky to time things, but we could probably text msg you (or call if no digital coverage) just before we reach Sicamous (or however you spell it) and then join up with you at the junction.

The only catch would be to get the campground to except keeping your MX-3 on site. The camp sites are big enough for more cars and tents, but they only allow 2 vehicles per site. I think Tim might be able to share his site with you.

That would be cool...but just for one night as we're going to Penticton to see the great grandparents. That would work great if Tim has room for us. How much was it for the night?

thanks man. ya, i'm gonna try and meet up with you guys at that junction. the only other spot would be just after Grindrod where the 97A and 97B meet up, but that would require me to take a huge detour. we'll see how i feel that day, but i know you guys are doing tons of driving too. i'll probably have an frs radio on me as well, but we'll have to exchange numbers just in case.

I think the #97 and Westside road would be better. It would be easier to time it, and would save you driving out of the way. Besides, we are going past that point anyways.

makes sense. question though, is there a reason why you don't use the gmrs frequencies? they would have way better range. i'm still not too sure about the diff between the two types.

Use of a dual-service radio’s GMRS bands requires an FCC operator’s license. Dual-service radios may be used without an operator’s license, if only the FRS channels are used. The are a few other differences, but basically for what we need, the FRS is cheaper & more easily accessible, and any of us that already have the radios, can at least use FRS frequencies. Here's a guide with more info

fair enough, not sure the frs range of the one i'll be bringing. i'll just make sure the cell is charged, get there early, and keep the car running to joing the cruise.

Na, you don't need to keep the car running. I'll call you before we reach Sicamous (so that you know when to leave), then call you again when we are near the Westside and 97 junction (so you can get ready to join us). It'll be fine. The FRS only has a line of site range of around 2km (if your lucky). We usually don't have issues unless we are around large mountain bends or scattered in urban areas.

Dali,
You'll have to go to Fintry website or call them to book your spots. We are not booked as a group and I'm not handling the booking for people. Each pair of vehicles is responsible for booking their own spot. You better get on it quick before the place fills up, or you can just chance it and see if there are any available spots when you get there. If you are wanting to convoy with us down Westside Road to Fintry, you might want to coordinate with Kevin Ovenden because he is doing the same.
