So my cross member had a half inch of miscellaneous grease on it from the last 19 or so years so I pulled it out and cleaned it up before I bolted it back up.

And I bought another Mx-3 courtesy of Mi|<e, it's a black RS with a K8 swapped in and it runs like a dream. Got a new windshield in yesterday and I just need to grab a distributor to make the CEL go away and then grab a set of winter tires and give it to my dad back in BC.

I drilled out my broken crossmember bolt and but this nut and bolt with washers on both side here.

I had to cut the front hood latch thing to fit it in there. Angle grinder FTW.

Pulled off the stock exhaust today with some more angle grinder help and installed the one from the blue car. Just need to get the actual muffler welded to the exhaust above the control arm in the back. Plus I need to weld on a flange to the factory exhaust to accommodate the front downpipe as well as the factory BP exhaust manifold piping. Gonna run to picknpull tomorrow and try to grab a BP charging harness and a motor mount bolt and I can realistically be firing the car up tomorrow if all goes well.

So So checking every single protege and escort at no picknpulls the last escort I checked was an auto BP. Grabbed some exhaust bolts I needed as well as the charging harness. Exhaust is all bolted up and I'll need a shop to do the finishing touches on that. I need to solder the charging harness at the alternator plug since I had to cut it off because the plug was damaged but other then that the BP is all good to go. Don't think I'll be firing her up this week but maybe next week.

So I'm finally back in BC, I had an FPR shipped here by mistake and when I opened the box today I found that it was used. It had chipped paint and it smelled of gasoline, even though I ordered it over a month ago

Left a voicemail with the company I bought it from but I'm pretty pissed off about it.

I"m even more pissed because it took two weeeks to even get it in the mail and then they shipped it to my BC address even though I told them to ship it to my Calgary address.

So I got my FPR overnight overnight me so I got it just before heading back to Calgary today. Weather is shitty but the rest of the harness will go in today and I'm gonna go pick up some oil, gear oil and coolant and maybe I'll even start her up today.

Almost done!!!

Image

1. CV Axle on the drivers side either needs to be replaced or opened up. It seems the outer CV joint has fallen out of the actual CV rod and that there is something blocking the joint from slipping over the rod. Not sure what I will be doing here, I don't want to muck around with CV grease but I don't want to buy an axle either.

2. I need to pick up a one wire O2 sensor tomorrow, autovalue never called me back so I'm not sure if they will have one, may try NAPA in the morning since it's right by my work. Just need to crimp that sucker in and I'm all set.

3. Need to bleed the clutch, I'm all out of friends this evening so I wasn't able to get it done. I may be able to convince someone to lend me a hand tomorrow night when I'm off work but it most likely won't be done till sunday.

4. Need to get engine oil and gear oil. I think I'll try to get some Mobil1 Synthetic 10w30 or Castrol synthetic 10w30. Just gotta see where I can grab it from, might try Napa for that too. Gonna go Redline Mt90 for the gear oil too unless theres a GM dealership closer so I can grab some synchromesh.

5. Need to go get a manual speedo cable and a cable driven gauge cluster. Hopefully the local picknpull can hook me up there but I can never find RS's there except for the second gen ones with wire driven speedo sensors.

CV axle problems, couldn't get the damn thing to slip in, just kept ending up like this so I cracked that b---- open.

Image

CV grease was all in the bore their, had to scoop it out and slip it in around everywhere else.

Image

Took some coercing after the grease was moved, got her in though.

Image

Used a worm clamp, don't know how I feel about that but that's probably just paranoia.

Only thing left to do is bleed the clutch and find an oxygen sensor. The oxygen sensor has been difficult to source for some reason, not sure what to do about that but I"m gonna try some more avenues tomorrow when i pick up oil. Found Castrol Edge for 30 bucks which is a good price, grab that and Mt90 and I'm almost there.

Bled the clutch today, I think I did it successfully but I have no idea. I haven't driven this BP so I don't know what the clutch is supposed to be like.

Image

The car finally saw the outside of the garage today so I could do some cleanup. Still can't find an O2 sensor for a half decent price, think I'll try JB auto or something like that, I'll pull one from pick n pull anyway just in case.

Gonna go grab a speedo cable and a cluster tomorrow from a 92 RS, if I can find one.

Need to get this dipstick tube out! Logical solution in this case is angle grinder. :welder:

Image

I cut into the oil pump from both sides, then tapped it with a mallet and it broke. Just pulled it out of the remnants of the oil pan. Now I just have to slip it into the pump, not sure how I'm gonna do that but I think I'll try to freeze the tube and try to muscle it in.
