EDIT: haha just realised this thread was 1 year+ old, if neuspeed is still around it'd be great to get a response
That is a good spot as long as your leg dont block the tweet and you can turn the tweeter upwards abit towards your ears.

yeah old window crank holes are not a good tweeter placement. your knee is right there.

Those would not come close to fitting a MX-3 sail panel. I mounted mine on the MX sail panel, but it was not the best choice. I thought about making a mold and recreating the pod for MX-3 sail panels, but I don't think it would be worth the effort. I like kick panels for the way they sound, but they are ugly in my opinion. The door is just a nice easy place to install the tweeter. I'm sure the idea came from seeing other cars with similar set-ups, but jsut because some facorty car has it does not mean it is the best way. It means it is the cheap/easy way ;)
However, my most recent mold was a fiberglass basket to go in the door and basically make a speaker box for the door speakers instead of them being open-air. I have alot of issues with my door speakers getting wet eventhough my doors are aligned properly and they have all new gaskets (window, door and trim). It seems to make a good difference in the mids coming from the doors since it is focused in the cabin instead of throughout the door.
My newer set-up is not 100% since the HEI died and I have mot messed with the Mx in 3 months or so.

I went the cheap and easy route.....

They are infinty's with adjustable tweeters built in. They sound pretty good and you can tell a difference when you move them around.

tweeters only have a 30 degree sound wave. hence why you hear a difference when you move them around.

i just reinstalled my diamond hex components and flush mounted the tweeter as close to the woofer as i could get it. in placing a tweeter for an optimal soundstage you want to place the tweeter and woofer as close together as possible. another issue with placing the tweeter far up on the door is that the path the sound travels to the left ear is far shorter than the path to the right ear. by dropping the tweeter you actually center your soundstage more effectively because the two path lengths are less lopsided:

I was the same, I didn't want to cut holes in my door trims... so I put them in where "Nd4SpdSe" was thinking... they gotta come with 40 degree offset mounts tho, otherwise you can't get enough rotation out of a flat mount...

The tweeters mine came with were pretty much just glued to the surface of that panel, so that's a possibility if you can't make it fit any other way.
