what is the allen key in a socket? A bit confused on that one.
on the end of the bolt that is spinning there is a hole for an allen key. your going to need a wrench for the nut then a allen key socket for the bolt. its very hard to get off without stripping and you will probably need to just replace them. if you cant get it off a good trick is to chisel the end link off of the bolt then grab the ball with some vice grips and use a ratcet with breaker bar and it should come out. if that doesnt work your going to be stuck cutting it off with a dremel or grinder.

OOOOOOOOH Got it! And i see the "key hole"

anyways can't work on it today.. the street down from me is a main road, and it's closed.. so cars are being detoured through my street.. so I can't get enough time in between cars to rip stuff off...

however, I started on the passenger side and got most of it off. The Lower arm bolts are off, and the Tie rod bolt is loosened.. just need to borrow a tie rod separator from Advance to rip it off.

I was also told i did not need to remove the sway bar.. that it was a waste of time.. so yeah i think I'm nearing completion.

Just have to remove the lower arm on the driver's side, rent the tie rod separator, and take the axles out!

Thanks Evo!

Just a few updates.. no pics at the moment as my laptop died.. so that's why no responses lately.

First, the BP is all cleaned up and ready to go! Timing is fine, timing belt cover is on, Alternator is on, new A/C compressor is on, Distributor is on, and pretty much all but the power steering is on. I also have the Alt. belt tensioned up.

I do not have the transmission on, and that's because I'm waiting for the correct flywheel. I ran into an issue with the engine having a SOHC Flywheel/Clutch on it, and not the G-Series one. I got the right clutch, but still waiting for the flywheel to arrive. Hopefully it's in this week.

Once that arrives, I can drop the engine in, wire it up, and be good to go!!!

Update:

Got the new flywheel in today. Though I forgot to bring my old one.. d'oh!

Gotta take that to them tomorrow for the core.

Also got the flywheel mated as well as the clutch mated to it. Should have those pics for ya tomorrow.

Didn't do much else today because of the darkness setting in and the fact that I had a few other things going on.

BUUUUUT!

I am off tomorrow. So tomorrow I will be working on getting the engine in and everything done. Should have the car up and running that night as long as things go smoothly!!

Pray that they do!! LOL!!

Update:

So the car didn't get to run that day.. ran into a few annoying issues. However, this is what has happened:

Engine is in, mounts are installed

also installed:
Fuel lines
heater hose return (to water pump)
spark plugs
wires

all wiring except:
engine temp. sensor for dash (need to re-solder the connector on)
some weird black/orange, black/blue-green plug (it has a metal connector) that I don't know where it goes.

Tomorrow I will install the clutch pedal switch (to bypass neutral switch), and finish up the wiring. I'll also try and get the axles on, but I don't know how busy I'm going to be with other stuff. If not, then Saturday since I'm off this weekend I'll finish it up.

Hey man I've only read this page but I'm going to go through your whole thread. My comment is about studs/bolts. Using a die to clean threads is a really good idea. Sometimes the resistence from corrosion can throw off your torque and possibly cause you to actually over tighten and snap off a bolt/stud. IMO

Thanks a lot both of you!

@dan:

I haven't ran into too many problematic bolts. The only things keeping me held up have been small issues.. like things I didn't have.

For example, I can't get the shifter on because I found out that I'm missing:

Boot, Holder, Ball seat (lower and upper), spring, and mounting rubber boot for the bracket that holds shifter.

pipe, bushing, and correct size nut for the other end of the bracket (that connects to the transmission)

and I'm missing the bushings for between the linkage and transmission.

But that is a good idea. I am actually about to clean up the ball joints and other ends so it will be easier/smoother for me to install the axles and the hub assembly.

@sleeper6:

We definitely should meet! Halloween night I am going to a friend's party if he has it, but I'll keep you informed!

edit:

also pics to come if I can find my card reader.
