I'm not trying to talk you out of doing it. I guess that my post came off a little dire. I just mean that the likelihood of actually improving the car is very slight. So what you'll really be doing is spending a lot of time and money just for the heck of it.
There's things I know I can do better, and things I know I probably can't. I prefer to concentrate on the former.

I still hold to the idea of renforcing the frame rails (like the FM) and connecting it in the middle. It will make a real world difference without affecting the safety.
If you have a wreck bad enough to mess up the frame rails under the seats then you already have a bad case of othercarjammedinmyback-itous

Yeah. I was stopped at a light in my girlfriend's new camaro, and we were hit from behind at about 65mph. I could touch the rear bumper from the front seat.

Wow. That must have been some impact... glad you're ok. What kind of car hit you?

It was a late '60s/ early '70s Ford F-150. It knocked us about 75 feet, and that's with the rear wheels locked up.
The guy was so drunk he fell on top of the Cop. However, it took them so loong to get him booked, that his blood test barely showed him legal. As soon as they let him go, he disappeared again (he was an illegal alien).

Wow.

Well, glad you're ok.
A little ironic that cops spend so much time harassing us with measuring tapes and spec manuals when there's guys like that to catch.
