You dont need to modify that crossmember for a turbokit do you.. I thought it was the engine crossmember that ran North to South not the SRD one..

Correct, the one the two mounts sit on. Though maybe tehbrookzorz meant that one  It would be nice, though there'd be a very small market for it. Then again it's products like that make me think, awk well no excuse now, may as well get turbo together :D

Sorry guys, I've been working in Edmonton going on 4 weeks. Although I'm going home this Friday, I'm only home for the weekend and back for another 3 weeks. So being 3500kms away and 2 hours behind I haven't been, or really been thinking about following up on them.

I did message him last night and he messaged me that he'll have the second one done for when I come home...but I don't see that he'd know that I was coming home this weekend. I don't want to pesterize him too much so I don't discourage him from this project, but it's good to remind him once in a while, just in case.

Sorry mitmaks, I haven't heard back from Ian yet. He said he's be pulling the car apart this month, and that was on the 7th. I'll sent him a message to see what's up. I've already called dibs on it, so I just need to get my hands on it and give it to my friend.

Honestly, probably not. Not unless I have a modified crossmember to use as an example cause I need to how HOW to modify it. Even then, as far as I've seen, there's different ways to do a turbo kit and what's needed to modify to make it work. I'd be affraid that I would modifty it in one way, but for some people it may not work, even worse is if it should work. That's something that I'd like to try, but even if it would be done correctly, for those who buy it and it doesn't work, I'm sure they wouldn't be happy to of spent the money on a large peperweight, and no way am I eating the cost by refunding the money and taking back something that's useless that has no guarantee of working.

The shitty part is that I don't have anyone to give it a try. Oscar has a kit, but his doesn't require a modified crossmember with his new kit...but maybe he did on his old one and still had it...I'll have to ask him. I believe I've seen pictures of modified crossmembers in the past...I'd hope that one being made out of aluminum with that modification would still have strenght to do the job...but that should be part of the way it's designed, and probably require more material and more complex machining.

For the regular SRD reproduction, I'm taking the cost on that since in the end, I could use it myself, or sell it or even my SRD original. If you guys want one that'll fit the turbo, you'll have to help me out with what needs to be done and divide the cost for the prototype and entrust someone to test it.

AFAIK, the mod would be similar for different apps, so, instead of routing out that part of it, you could leave it solid, so it would have enough strength for them to cut it as needed. Just get a general perimeter of where they will need to cut it, and leave that part solid.

Ok, I've got a question. When I search for, and for what I remember in terms of modifying the crossmember, this is what I think of and get searching for it:

And this is this crossmember that the SRD replaces:

Are both pieces needed to be modified or is there a mistake in terms of what part need to be modified for a turbo?

Well, so you guys silenced from confusion? Lol

My buddy said work's been busy for the last few weeks so be had to put those parts to the side, but today he was in the mood to work on them today, and he sent me an update on the rear tie bar. Apparently he didn't line it up right for the holes, but a simple mistake that shouldn't happen on the next one, lol

Image
i drilled the holes at like .471 i think and then i did the slot with an endmill. and the endmills run really true. so i ran that same endmill down the holes that i drilled to get .500 exactly but stupid me didnt make sure i was in the middle. so i dropped the endmill down like 1/32" off

Grrreat! I would like to have both.
I was wrong about the turbo mod. I guess I read something different. Maybe it was just how 1 person did it.
