Yeah Gro that would make it easier but think what would this main page look like if we had a topic for everything ya know? Some things need to merged into other topics to save some space. And also agree with you on how this board needs a backbone from the senior guys on here. I guess all im trying to say is that people need to take it easy but people DO NEED TO SEARCH no matter what.

The main turn-off for me for searching is how SLOW IT TAKES.

I don't know if this is a super old version of UBB or what, but i'm used to Vbulletin.

For some ghey reason, it has to search each seperate forum seperately, forward you to the next search and then the next. On my dialup connection, it literally takes 5 minutes to do ONE SEARCH.

If i need info on my KLZE, I NEVER EVER will try to search here b/c I know it'll take too long. I usually go straight to probetalk b/c its vbulletin search takes 5-15 seconds depending on how many ppl are eating bandwidth.

Perhaps a software upgrade where searching is done with one browsing would help? i dunno.

I still think catalogging a lot of the commonly asked topics would be a good thing, but I sure don't want to be the only one who chips in.

gro would it be a good idea for me to start a post asking people what new FAQ's we need? or maybe just start in the two engine sections a main sticky post for people to suggest what new FAQs people want and pick out some of the most desired ones and make ones for that. And we can weed out some of the unnecessary ones like the "turbo list" in the 4cyl FAQ

Thats exactly what I had in mind.

If we do implement a catlog-like system, I wouldn't want there to be a thread about every little topic tho. Instead of titling 3 threads "cold air intake" "VAF swap" "Throttle body swap", we could just ahve all hte info about intake systems in one thread titled "Intake Manifold Throtty Body VAF CAI info" or somethin.

but before jeff had a BBS system
we used EGROUPS or yahoo groups.....
the search suck on it.....
plus the main problem i have is that people dont go to the main page to see what is avaible.....

PLUS the reason alot of the 1.6l stuff isnt on here or hard to find is that most of the senior memebers, vaughn, techguym, abrams etc etc. had V6's so they didnt do any research on the I4

the hard part of the stuff on the front page is that they seem spread out and some of the info is very out dates and lots has changed since then. we could easily consolidate much of the info into the already exsisting FAQ sections and put a link to those somewhere on the front page also. the clubprotege.com site has a link to both protege FAQ and Site FAQ right on the front page so it is very easy to access and has lots of great helpful info. I would love to see that on our front page or something similar

I just had a run in with a really arrogant SOB on the Protege forum. I was making my first post in a Rant Thread. And this Mod jumped down my throat because of the language I used, later after posting back and forth I found out the reason he jumped me was because I said 'God damn'. Now that guy needs to LIGHTEN up.
