OH I almost forgot... my other project this weekend was to make some more magnet autocross numbers. Instead of buying them for $80+ I went to a local sign store and bought some scraps for $15 and then borrowed a projector from work. We have a metal door in our basement so I projected on that and just found some fonts I liked, traced them out, then cut them out myself! I also cut out some random things that would be cool as stickers, but you know how I refuse to put stickers on my car... so now I can put them on at events then take them off when I go home! BRILLIANT! :freak:

Very nice Mr Moons. Too bad my cousin can't do the same. There's something about magnets and a car made out of Tupperware that just doesn't quite work, haha. I'll have to borrow your idea when I start to auto-x. I hope you don't mind.

Mooneggs wrote:thanks guys! John I was incredibly terrified to cut those big holes in the hood, and I was even more scared when I almost couldn't figure out how to get the exact same angle on the other side (it's a weird angle). The problem too was I was trying to use holes that were already in the car from when I had the invader style cf hood. I don't have close up pics from underneath because it doesn't look that great  Take a look at the pics above and you can kind of see how it turned out underneath... Getting the little nuts and washers on from underneath was the hardest part by far.

still turned out nice! great job!

For what it's worth, cutting holes like that can sometimes be made a little easier if you use a round hole saw in your drill. Drill the holes at each end the appropriate size then join them with what ever (dremel tool, jig saw,,). Just a thought. :)

I do like that hood, it's a bit more curvy in it's accents, unlike the invader. Good work :)

So not too much to update, I got a steering wheel spacer from ukrman that is exactly what I was looking for. I was getting tired of hitting the stalks on the column every time I turned the wheel - it made racing kind of difficult. Now I have plenty of room!

Also I passed emissions again... this is always a stressful time for me... this is the method I use:

Driving the car hard right before going to the station (hard acceleration, high speed)
After that pull over and doing the following:
2 16 oz bottles of 90% isopropyl on a mostly empty gas tank
Remove air filter
Unplug PCV valve

Previous passing test results:
Idle emissions: HC 164, CO 0.4187
CO+CO2 14

Most recent passing test results:
Idle emissions: HC 130 (max allowed: 220), CO 0.8203 (max allowed: 1)
CO+CO2 14.2 (max allowed: 6)

And last but not least, I got a GoPro Hero camera with the suction cups and roll bar mounts... fortunately one of my friends gave me a hook up and I got everything for half off!! Look forward to some HQ videos of my racing and driving experiences coming soon!

Before and after pics of the spacer addition!

Sweeet! I want a GoPro :)

May I ask where you got yours, and how much you paid for it?

I saw the autox video, you're good. How well do you generally do in your class?

I paid about $300 for everthing in the pic...

Well I just recently found out what class I should be racing in... I haven't seen the results from yesterday... I'm still trying to figure out how to drive it and once I put the Ksport coilovers on and get some bigger tires I'm going to have to learn how to drive it all over again...

I've posted vids up on facebook but I'm going to put them on photobucket too...

Yeah I saw it on facebook. Man you're doing everything to your car that I eventually want to do to mine. Except it'll take me much longer hahah.

I finally got the videos uploaded to YouTube. I had uploaded them to Facebook last week but would like to reach a larger audience 8)

Anyways, I've got them posted in this thread to keep all my racing stuff together: http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.ph ... 27#p583227

Here was one nice pic they took - I am really happy with how my "Even stealthier" project has turned out (painting insides of headlights/signals, powdercoated matte black rims, CF aggressive hood, cutting out the middle bar in air dam):
Image

I did fairly well but am even more aware of the suspension/tire upgrades I need to be competitive! The rear tire video shots really show what I'm talking about! I am really impressed with the GoPro and will be getting alot of use out of it...

I'm continuing to work on my magnet/sticker project and was researching "JDM" decals/stickers etc last night and then finally decided to make my own in PowerPoint - what do you think? I've never been one for badges/stickers but when I go to events it's kind of fun to put them on and since they would be on magnets it's not like it's permanent...
