Re: PICS mazdaspeed bumper & CF hood AaronTietje - 1993 MX-3
I removed the clear lense off the "carbon" light and just set it there for the pic. I will be using fuser glue when I eventually set it in place for good.

Nice to follow this worklog. Quality parts!
What are your time schedule for the car? What colour will it be and what rims are you gonna go with?
Keep up the good work.

Thanks unclegreg. I'm saying the 5year plan is what I'm looking to do and I'm already about year into the build.unclegreg wrote:Nice to follow this worklog. Quality parts!

This summer's priority is paint. It will be a burnt orange with a unique touch that I will reveal later. All I can say at this point is that it will be a "strong" Japanies theme in the OEM PLUS style.
Rims will be here next week And more willwood parts.

Re: Wilwood goodness AaronTietje - 1993 MX-3 GS
I'm mocking up a custom wilwood kit for the mx3. The total thickness of this hat/rotor combo is only an inch thick. I will be getting my rims this week and will be able to see if the caliper will clear. If not, I will need to get a "deeper" hat. The way it is now, I will have tons of room on the hub side.

Re: Wilwood goodness AaronTietje - 1993 MX-3 GS
So that rotor is worth about $200 then? What caliper are you planning on using?
The trick is...if you give yourself a bunch of room on the hub side like that combo would give you, yes you'll be able to mock up a bracket to hang a caliper but the caliper will hit the wheel hard as you have lost all of your offset. If you use the same offset as the stock rotor, the wheel will fit but you will have nowhere to mount the caliper. The only way it can be done is by using a 17" wheel and a 13" rotor. A big rotor will locate the caliper far enoguh out from the stock location that the mounting tabs for the stock caliper won't interfere. Big Rotors = Big $$$.
I look forward to seeing what you come up with.

Re: Wilwood goodness AaronTietje - 1993 MX-3 GS
I bolted my rotor on backwards in the pic. Here it is the correct way.
It is only .25 in "thinner" than the stock rotor. I will be using either a wilwood or USBrake caliper once I have checked my spacing with the new rims.

New Rotat's 16x8
It looks like there will be tons of room for the rotor and caliper in this rim.
Next will be a test fit on the car to see if I will be "rubbing" anywhere.
