Looks like you have a bad rear valve cover gasket

URGENCE PPLEASE !! i ma desperate .. i am in downtown stuck the car wont start :( is not cranking .. nothing . When i turn to start the car the lights on the dash are all on but the clock and the radio turns off. ... COULD be that BATTERY ? :( or i really have a prob .. before that the engine started to tamper ... i thought its because of the airflow ,, i mean the hose is broken now i checked it seems it;s broken completely , the only thing that keeps the tube togheter is that band ... o oooo im screwed ...

It happened earlier once , i went to blockbuster to rent a movie but when i came back it gave power to the engine , but the cranking was longer than usual. anibody had this problem.

but the prob is i am to far from the car now .... ehh nvm :( i wish me luck, ciao

If the battery was week shouldnt at least crank aniway ? so the starter is stuck , where are the grounds ?

I FIX IT ! ! :) I couldnt sleep and i came down to check the engine. I saw other people have had same issue in the past// but aniway maybe my discover is to late.

1.I cleaned the battery (no change)
2.I closed this ... thing was open http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=2 ... =613685135
3.I took out the cover and i put it back http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=2 ... =613685135
4.I plug in that thing , was almost outside completely = not connected . http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?pid=2 ... =613685135

BEFORE you say its too dirty i swear to god im gonna clean all of it :P

The only reason why that cable came out , is because here the roads are full of holes . so i ran in a lot of them , i mean i feel every little hole. i cannot avoid only the big ones , though i took a hard one last week .

I gave it a second try , YEP its working , the engine makes ZUM ZUM again ... pff today the cops helped me and called a TOW company :) , the guy offered me to jump the car for 40$ .. i said no thanks just tow it :) i had a feeling it will not start ..

Aniway it was a cable issue, for those who will have same issue check that wire first ;)

good to hear :) but with the issue of the radio and clock turning off, typically symptoms of a bad battery, weak battery. I recommend based off all the corrosion from the pics thats on the cables and battery to go ahead and replace it. You could replace your battery terminal connectors too if you want, or just take a wire brush and some coke (yes coca cola) to them it does wonders and will eat through the corrosion.

i cant really tell anything from the video i do hear a ticking but the sound quality isn't that great so i cant really tell if you have a knock or if thats just HLA tick.

How long have you been driving the car? durring that time has it always sounded like this?

I was taught a way to detected a rod knock by taking a quarter and placing it on the block and feeling for a knock at the same time as the sound. though this doesn't always work lol. It's like the broke mechanics stethescop

Have you checked the oil? replaced it? if its dangerously low you will get some ticking and you should put some oil in it immediately. Pull your oil stick clean it, then put it back in (car not running of course) put it in wait about 10 seconds then pull it back out. if the oil level is low, you need oil for one. But this doesn't mean you've fixed the problem. just taken care of 1 of the problems

well, I think that it is HLA(lifter) knock probably.

rod knock sounds like someone knocking with their hands on a heavy wooden door....kind of a deeper sound then you are hearing. It sounds like lifter noise. And a bad one at that.

Well the noise was there all the time ( i own the car since November 2007, i did around 2000 km ). I thought is a normal sound as it resemble at a mini porsche :)

But the car seems to run normal , i just did a mess today with the oil , i replaced a little bit from the oil by taking an amount out ,after, i put some LUCAS HEAVY DUTY stabilizer oil for perfomance and some 5w-30 Valvoline Max Life. Nothing changed,, the sound is happy to ..reproduce.
... the sound comes from the left (rear) bank/side, i am sure about that , i was thinking the intake system is the prob ...

Maybe the sound increased with one idea ... not sure i did not pay attention till now ...
>Here you have a better link in youtube, the sound is almost the same with the reality .. camera difference heh ..

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p97a4TQ6YBQ

Thx a lot.

PS: i saw on the rear exhaust pipe water or fuel coming , i didnt smell it , especially when i was reving the engine , is that fuel or something else ? .. cause that will confirm that my engine runs like s..t now with 91 octane , i mean to much gas pumped = bad ecu.

I have read some topics about HLA and ticking .. Now , yeah my engine is totally new to me i did not replace anything in it , i dont want to put a lot of money in it, i want it to run for a year or two then if i can swap the engine will be great .. or maybe buying another mazda :) . should i do a flush to the engine and start putting synthetic oil ?
