Re: people need to lighten up a bit on here

Post by projectmx »

i've only been into cars for around 2 years tops now my protege was the first and i didn't get to much real engine performance cause it wasn't available till the last 6 months. but i've spent all that time on this board researching the mx-3 and to be honest i still know very little because there aren't man good FAQs i like what gro harlem suggested. We really need to build a better FAQ section. like the protege forum i was part of had a great break down on stock specs of the car. from weight to hp to torque to wheel base and more even color codes a break down of the VIN information. I've been trying to create my own data base of info on the car but i have very very limited resource and haven't been able to add much myself but i know there must be people out there who can do this. and i've made suggestions in that section meant for it and never heard a reply back and never saw a change. we even started a thread listing every body kit available and where from and suggested updating that info and nothing happened. I'm afraid to ask questions sometimes cause all i get is flamed and told to search. I do search and sometimes i find partial answers but not everything i need and get more grief over it. I would love to help with the FAQ's but i am not sure how much i can really add but if someone will tell me what i can do to help i'll jump on it cause i'd love to see this community grow and for us to know more about our cars.

For God's sake man-- there is more to MX-3.com than just this forum.

EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT AN MX-3 CAN BE FOUND EITHER ON THE MAIN MX-3.com SITE OR BY SEARCHING THE FORUM.

I recommend that you take a peek at the main site-- its quite helpful.

no crap. how hard is it for people to look at the main site. i find that if a good majority of people would just open their eyes they would find that its rite in front of their face.

Mazda78 just about all the info you are looking for is on the mane mx3.com page. OPEN YOUR EYES. youve been on the forum for two years. this is exactly why everyone is irrated. and how hard is it to open up a moters manual. heck even the manuals you get from any autoparts store will have the info your after.

holy flying F**k are some of you hypocrits. telling ME to oping my F**k**g eyes?!!! read my damn post i've only been on this board for 6months!!!!! not two years i've only been interested in cars for two years and for most of it i have been on the protege forums!!!!

and if the main page indeed does tell:

wheel base width and length of mx-3
what turbo manifolds are available for the various engine types?
what parts from the 1.6L early 90s mx-5 swap into the dohc or sohc mx-3 I4
ect. ect. ect.

if this stuff is located on the front page i would LOVE for someone to point it out cause i haven't found it yet and if it has been there all along then it would have been great for someone to NICELY point me in the right direction instead of calling me an idiot and not opening my eyes! I'm sorry this post is so angry but i'm so sick of people calling me and others idiots and making us feel like @ss's for asking legitamate questions. hell i'm even trying to offer help in building this things myself and others are suggessting we need and instead of being hey great lets work together to improve this site and make more information available i get yelled at and then told all the info is there i just have to find it for myself... so what happens? it never gets found because it really isn't there and no one realizes it or its so burried that i can't find it and no one wants to help.

Alright there kiddo-- Calm down.

Since there are only two Turbo Engine that will fit in the 4-cyl MX-3 there are only two turbo manifolds available. The B6T and the BPT.

The B6T manifold will fit the 94-95 1.6L DOHC MX-3.

The BPT Turbo Manifold will fit the the 1.8L BP engine from the Protege.

Being that you are mainly a Protege guy or say that you have been interested in them the longest-- I would think that those two answers you would already know.

There is no Turbo Manifold available for the v6.

------------

The wheelbase/width can be found here: (Right off the main page, BTW)
http://www.mx-3.com/downloads/brochures.cfm

Click on the US Spec Brochure & download it. On Page 19 you will find your answer. (And if you edcide to take some time & flip through the rest-- it will probably answer more questions for you)

-----------

As to what will fit from the Miata to the MX-3:

Look at this link in the 4-cyl FAQ:
http://www.mx-3.com/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=24;t=000008

Gro Harlem explains things fairly well, but if that isnt what you are looking for then go to the second to last post in that topic. It is from Chris Malden and has a link to Randy Stocker's Page (Which HAS to be THE most comprehensive site about the B-series engines IMO...) that explains everything to you. I suggest you go there & read up.

-------------------

Almost any question that can be asked about an MX-3 has been asked 5-10 times. Some more, some less of course.

Plain and simple, the answers are here, there & everywhere. I found those with relative ease just by using common sense.

So chill the hell out man.

thats not true perry they have turbo manifolds for the v6 on Probe talk but there not FOR the mx3 but they will work with modifications. There are also guys selling them on mx6.com yet again not FOR the mx3, several of us have tried to get manifolds made for the mx3 but what it comes down to is a war about WHAT turbo people want to use and no one will ever come to an actual agreement on what to use.

Thus the reason i am having my own turbo manifold made for what i want to use and hey ill give anyone the number to the guy that wants one that will have the same setup

It's kinda funny to me how flamethrowing erupted on a post that was intended to tone down such behavior: ironic, huh? I was just looking back at my first post, and I sounded alot like some of these noobs when I first got here. Some people were very helpful (VisualXTC and others), and some such as pelado just told me to search (they had a right to). Then some, namely one (Steeb), had be a jerk about it. He first posted a really helpul link, but then he posted a couple more times about nothing but his rant. I'm now on the side where I get sick of all these new kids asking stupid questions, but I have to remind myself that I was just there about a year and a half ago. I had no car experience whatsoever when I first got my RS. After getting told to search after my first post on 1-11-03, I didn't post again for another year, 1-3-04. I've learned almost all I know about cars from this totally informative site. Some people need to be told to research, and on the ridiculously over-asked questions, they should HAVE to search to find the answers; I did, and it helped me tremendously. BUT, there is no need to bash the guy; we're all friends here, and we all had a time in our lives when we were just as illiterate as these new kids.

Great Post Nallboy.

BTW, none of my posts in this thread were meant to bash anyone-- Just to answer questions of why some of the senior members act the way they do.

Everything leads back to the fact that people just cant even do one ounce of research to find their answers. The Senior members seemed to be able to do it back in the day with this same info and actually even less because this forum wasnt always around.

Another great wealth of knowledge is gained by joining Vaughn's Yahoo!groups. The link is on the main page (again).

I just simply answered Mazda78's questions be showing him that the answers are here AND easy to find if you actually look for them.

not to be too much of a prick, but where i got how long youv been on the board is from your Registered date which says DEC. 2002, so its more than 6 months. i appolgize for upsetting you. but it just sux that everyone says the info is not their and all they can do is complain about how no one will help them find the info they want when all they have to do is look. i finnaly picked up a book to find alot of info i was looking for. also iv called mazda dealers to talk to their mechanics about stuff. everything is their its just how far are you willing to go to get the info you want.

damn ppl...tone the flaming down, this is a good discussion.

I agree, the FAQ section should be updated w/more info & updated links, some of the current FAQ's IMO are worthless and just contain a sentence of vauge information. The Appearance FAQ for example, has threads about taillights & headlights mostly that could've been merged into one topic called "Headlight FAQ" which would contain everything you'd want to know about your headlights, including removal, install, how to polish them, how to remove lense, what kinds of custom things you can do, what eyelids are available, etc.

if you looked at my post record you would see the only reason i hoped on at that time was too find mazda people in my area i didn't begin to actually look into the mx-3s till late last year and dec of 02 through june of 04 still isn't even 2 years. also i did do research and found nothing on turbo manifolds for the 1.6 till someone finally said they had used the 323 gtx turbo manifold till then every post i found asking about it said none existed. and as far as knowing about the 1.8L bpt yeah i knew they fit the protege but i certainly wouldn't have assumed blindly they fit the mx-3 also but after reading up on mx-3 i found that out myself. i had no intentions of my posts turning angry till i got ripped on for supposedly never searching and keeping my eyes close. i simply offered to help organize the site better and do some help on more FAQ's but for my offers of help i get F**king flamed and told i'm stupid by people who don't take their own advice and don't do some research before making comments.
