lime, the miata community does swap to the 4w head but they keep the 4w manifold on the head when they swap it in.

That is true but a reg 94-98 bp intake manifold does not mated properly with a 4w head and vise verse. What u say will work in RWD form what im trying to say is that they don't make a 4W intake manifold in a FWD form get my point. The exhaust side doesn't change but the intake side does. U have to modify customize a intake manifold in order u utilize a 4w head in FWD form. I just don't understand whats so hard to concept.

I messed around with the 4w head about 4 years ago to find that out, at the time didn't feel like dishing out the cash to get another IM made when i had one made for the 1st gen bp. I'm talking about using a 4W head in a FWD setup. The miata guys have it easy as u stated.

it may not cost too much for a custom manifold, someone is selling individual throttle bodies built for each engine... you could put those on the engine :)

I don't understand why this thread is still going.

Miata engine into RS?

Pro:
-You get to know that your motor came from a red blooded sports car.
-Solid lifters

Con:
- It makes barely (if any) more power than a Tracer LTS motor
- Its harder to swap, you need to change mounts and stuff
- It will never come with a B trans attached to it
- New intake manifold, if not new head
- Swap Thermostat and oil pan
- The list goes on

pros:
solid lifters
much easier to swap to CAS and coil packs even has spot to attatch coil packs

cons:
for those to lazy to put in the work and to properly rebuild engine before install you have to change sides of thermostat
needs different oil pan
also different intake manifold

would you not need engine management to run coil packs?

So I guess its a good swap if you're real serious, but its not for an average joe.

if you are just swapping to say "hey i did a mad 1.8 bp swap" then yeah stick with a transverse mounted bp... if you want to swap and really have it make a big difference then there is nothing wrong with swaping the 4w bp

like i was trying to say befor, the intake mani will swap over if, you do alittle dremel work and cut out the end bolt holes. there are several on the 323 forum that have done it. I was going to do it on my BP build but the cams i wanted wouldent fit in the solid lifter head. swaping the oil pan....cmon it takes nothing. swapping the T stat really is nothing either. It will mount up.. you just might have so source some mounts from a FWD BP. WAY WAY overthinking this swap.
