Post Hijack; I 'm getting some 18" wheels that look real nice. Now I'd rather go 17 for sure but these 18s are basically free. What's the smallest tire I could go with that would keep me close to stock and am I an idiot for even considering 18s. Thanks

My black mx came with 18s. It honestly wasn't that bad, I think it was on 205 35 18, but could be wrong on that.. The price of tyres I didn't like!

Ya tire cost could kill me. Profile needs to be kept low or it looks like your 4X4ing. lol

Just roll your fenders and go with 45 profile... higher final drive ratio and top speed! :)

You could probably do 120km/h @ <3000rpm.

Hey it's not just about speed and top end,,,,,,,well actually it is. lol It has to look right and with normal profile tires the damn car looks like a Tonka toy. lol

I wonder if there's a weight:inches ratio that should be respected like 1/2 age + 7...

That might be funny if they made 34 profile tires

Is the 205/40/17 tire, better fitment than the 215.40.17 tire?
I've heard that both fit well, although obviously the 215/40/17 will be slightly thicker and wider and you might not want that depending on what setup you're running. 205/40/17 is a safe bet. But if your rims are more than 17x7, for example like 17x8 or something then it's probably too thin.

Which one will be a little less bumpy?

As far as I know that has more to do with the brand of tires you buy. I have yokohamas on my 17s and they are so good that I don't feel any more roughness than when I had my 15" honeycombs with bf goodrich tires.
