I'm surprised that everyone overlooked that. A KLZE's head codes are stampleed KL31, KLDE's are just KL if i remember right. I would like someone to verify that, but before you get that motor wait until we confirm the codes, but I'm pretty sure than KL is a DE, not a ZE

thats what i thought , he knows that it has kl1a1 on it but i read that the rear should have that and the front kl31101 so he insists he has KLZE's and he said there a very big jdm company and are strive on customer satisfaction and he tells me that he knows its a ZE and he said when i order it hell look just to make sure it has KL31101 on the heads and if he cant find one out of the 16 he will get on he said , he told me he cant go pull down 16 motors and check them all so he said if/when i order hell check and make sure

kl31 are ZE heads and KL 101 and 1a1 are DE heads.. curve neck manifold will have kl-01 cams while straight neck will have kl-31 cams and both will have flat top pistons

No one has officially proven a diff between 01 and 31 cams, but the specs are that the max torque on the 01 cams are around 4500, while the 31 cams around 5800. Most likely the 01 cams gave the lower torque since those motors were in automatic Millenias, but it depends on what you planon doing. I know for racing, especially dragging, 4500 is too low, you never get down that low when shifting.

Trust me, DE's are stamped KL not KL31, I know a few people that got screwed over on them.

Not better torque, they both make about the same, it's really more usable torque, but usable depends on the drivers. If your drag racing, and say you shift at redline (7000), you'll come back around 5500 (around there, don't quite remember), so your right there when the engine is making max torque, but the 01 cams max torque is low where you wont hit it. However, this could be useful when doing track or especially autocross racing.

People have changed over from 01 to 31 cams, but no one has mentioned any noticable difference in real life. You can probably see a difference in a dyno, but in real world scenarios, unfortunately I dont think anyone has reported/tested any difference in drag races and such. As well, can't accurately compare between different cars, every setup and even every motor is different.

It's a hard call, in theory and in benchmarked test, 31 cams are better, but there's no opinions or real world examples to validate this claim

yeah i like that too,im buying a ZE soon and id rather just buy a curve neck to begin with, hittin up the drag strip is fun but i only make it out 2-3 times a summer lol. if i bought a curve neck i would just have to get a new ecu and vaf right?

Regardless of curved neck of straight neck, you'll need to swap your ECU and/or vaf. The KL31/36 ECU's are configured for straight-neck ZE with 31 cams, but a curved-neck runs much much better than with a ZE ECU than with a stock setup. Even the DE ECU/VAF works just as good as a ZE ECU (with the stock JE50 VAF). However, there is no true setup for a KL01 Curved-neck ZE, the only way would be to get a Probinator ECU programmed for that setup. There's also the Megasquirt route, which will yeild power gains on any ZE. Many many people have ran ZE ECU's on 01 curved-neck ZE for many many years, including myself. It runs good. My probinator ECU feels a tad faster (but that's just my butt dyno) but my fuel economy is noticably worse as well. When we pulled my plugs last year, they were white from runing lean. I haven't checked them since my Probinator ECU a few months ago, but I'm sure she's runing richer now. I'm keeping my KL36 for my next emissions test in 2 years, just in case...

Not sure. Eunos is just a different name for lines of Mazda's, like our Mx-3's are also called Eunos Presso's or Eunos 30x (as well as the Autozam Az-3). What comes to mind for an "Eunos KLZE" would probably be the ZE out of an Eunos Ms8, which is basically a Mazda Millenia (I'm pretty sure about thatm but dont quote me on it). I dont know if there are other Mazda's with KLZE's that go by the Eunos name, like the Mx-6 and such.
