That is good news. I could have sworn that Derek at Cork Sport told me I would need some axle machining too. I'd trust you over his advice any day.

146 US$ - it ain't cheap but we got the differentials at a good price, so if that is what it takes, then its ok.
On Probe talk there is pictures of what it looks like if your gearbox goes "crazy" - impressive.....
During the Quaife installation we shift to an longer 5th gear from an MPV and repair the downshift from 5 to 4, as it is faulty.

Would not trust anything less than ARP studs to put down 2200bs/ft of torque to the ground (torque to the wheels AND ring gear for a KL/KLZE in 1st gear - that's 220lbs/ft per "tiny" M10 stud).
Recommended torque is 25-32 ft/lbs + red loctite when assembling the ring gear to the Quaife (criss-cross tightening patern).

i have a tochigi fuji sangyo
Its a CLUTCH TYPE 2-WAY, not a gear-driven
by and far the quaife is the BEST lsd to get, but 1500 + 300 for an install kit? sorry, but for a car that is worth less than a grand, i can't warrant spending that much.
So instead I spent about 500 total for my LSD, including the unit, new speedo gear, two new bearings (all had to be pressed on) and new rivets put in at a machine shop that are stronger than the shitty mild-steel ones it comes with. Installed myself, very easy to install. but its a 4.11 final drive which means you'll need to soucre 4.11 gears. I got some ford escort gears with BRASS synchros instead of the stock copper ones, they are more durable, last longer, less prone to wear and such. gear shifts are bustanut-inducing lol.
You could bust out the rivets & put in the stock ring gear if you wanted to keep your gears, but i didn't care since I had a ford zx2 SR tranny lying around already.
Only thing to know is this LSD apparently is "weak" according to the MSP guys. They are constantly breaking theirs if they up their boost, and a probe guy I know who got one broke his when doing a 2-minute long burnout (go figure...the idiot) with his KL w/a few mods. I put in new SS rivets that are much stronger than the mild steels to make up for it. Also had the ring gear welded to the diff body for extra reassurance. You could do either or, or both to strengthen it if you have a KLZE swap w/mods or are going turbo

yeah the mx3 is "worth" a lot less on the US than australian market...
over here they were like $35000 AUD new or more ..
apparently worth about $6000 - $9000 AUD now... (about $4500-$7500 US)
I think the ones over here are worth more on the market than the american ones on their market today because mazda australia decided to ask way too much for them new and sellers today are also..

The price i Denmark was from new between 40-50.000 US$. the price now is about 4.500 to 15.000 US$, the high price is because we have the worlds highest taxes on cars, import tax 12-15% + registrationtax 275-287% + salestax 25 %.
Amazing we have cars here...

is the differential side on the mx3 26 or 28 spline?
zx2 uses 26, mazdaspeed Protege uses 28
