Sorry, this doesn't apply to car companies but I always admired this guy, Thomas Kavanagh, cofounder of Storage Technology. In '75 when companies were going crazy naming themselves with just initials to sound important and serious, he starts NBI (literally stands for Nothing But Initials) to sell office automation products...
