to my understanding its easier to do the BP/BPT swap to the 92-93s than it is the later ones, if you plaing to go thaty route, i had a 92 RS, i loved that car, was so much fun to drive even though it was underpowered

I went ahead and bought it. Right now it's sitting in my driveway waiting for insurance. I already have ownership in my name, just not the plates yet.

but guess your emontional about it..be prepared to sink monies on all the parts that will start going bad.
good luck
i would buy a 94 and up
manual, do not touch the automatics. you will not be happy with them.
get a GS if possible, better over all car.
do not touch any car under 1994..too old even thou they look "good"
good luck

MY 95 RS just turned 100,000 miles.

i have started making monthly runs to help my mom with her ranch so am putting 650 miles more per month. normmlly only put 20 miles a WEEK, yes thats right per WEEK since i work from home on my puter.
replaced the clutch a month ago. cost 135, labor was free.

replaced the backup switch, master clutch cyl, slave clutch cyl. 27 for the swithc, 120 for the cyl, and 100 for the labor.
so i have "invested" a few bucks lately
