Well, the turbo installation/conversion in complete.
My first impression would be - "interesting".
First of all, the latest pics are at:

I will add final pictures tomorrow when it is light out.
Everything went in as planned and the motor started right up with no codes
and no weird smells or noises. My filter fell of the intake duct, but that
is another stupid story...
The boost isn't "instant" like it was with the SC, that is for sure. If I
stomp on it from 2000 RPM, there isn't anything for a second and the RPMs
increase to 3000 then it starts to build boost very quickly. I haven't run
it past 9 PSI, but I think I have the wastegate set for about 11 PSI or so.
I'll probably take it to 14 once I am sure it will stop there. The SC used
to put 2 PSI or so immediately at 2500 RPM, but it wouldn't get to 9 PSI at
5000 like the turbo does.
The turbo itself is a T3/T04 hybrid with a .48 hot side and a .50 cold side.
I have it set up watercooled and all of the pipes are wrapped. I didn't see
any leaks and the under-hood temps are the same as they were before, so far.
My main question is - what can I do to get the boost on a bit earlier? I'd
like to see some pressure sooner, even if it means less later on. I suspect
you will all say I can't.
Are there any options for the turbo itself - differently sized scroll
housings, wheels or modifications - that might alter the boost threshold?
Since it won't boost when it is not under load, I can't directly observe the
WG to determine if it is cracking too soon, but I don't think it is. Kind of
disappointing that I can't get that "REV - WHOOSH" that other turbo vehicles
can do when they are parked.
I might want to try some type of boost controller?
I am taking all of my boost/vac signals from the same place - the nipple on
the #6 intake runner.
Sorry if that was rambling, but its 6am and I've been hacking at it since
2pm this afternoon...
---
Jeff Abrams
