I'm thinking that's your problem. Ditch the crack head ECU, and get the proper J-spec ECU. Those rechipped ones don't work worth a puke. I haven't heard a single person have anything good to say about them. And as for ECU, depends on the chip manufacturer if they intended for you to use the KL VAF or JE50 VAF.

Damn that would suck :( I paid like 250 for that thing. I thought it was the right one, car runs alot better with that one there. Anyway to tell if it's a bogus chip before I go spend another 200 some dollars?

if you're running the JE50 VAF then you're gonna need a KL36 or KL31 ECU. If you are running an auto tranny, then the KL36 is mandatory. Oh and get your chequebook out.. I just paid 400$CDN for mine a month ago.

So if I have that ECU, then I need the 2.5 vaf? I thought if you have the jspec ecu you want the 1.8 vaf, not the 2.5??

Anyone? I guess I need to start looking for a kl36 or kl31. I'm running manual tranny. Since I have a modded kl07 and the only thing that is changed is the ecu chip, is that why I should get the kl36 or kl31, because the whole board is different? Maybe I'm confused...

I think the concensus is that your ECU with modded chip is better out of the car, and that you should use the JE50 VAF (stock K8 and KLZE) and a KLZE ECU (KL31 or KL36).
Re-shaped and re-sized gearshift lever. Best driveability mod you can do!
Extra thick soundproofing in the boot (trunk) to quieten my stainless steel exhaust system :)

Thanks that's the answer I was looking for! Time to save up some cash :( So instead of kl07 it should say kl36 or kl31 in place of where the kl07 is. Thanks!
