I don't know if it's just me but isn't spark plugs and fire coming out so close to your gas tank potentially a bad thing?

the honda guys are right, rotaries are the dirtiest running engines out there with 3 catalytic converters, take em off and you'll get flames, trust me.

The reason a lot of rotaries can do this is because many have the exhaust and intake ports next to each other on the same side of the engine. This causes an overlap in the cycle of the rotor and a lot of unburnt intake gases get into the exhaust. This is one of the reason the had to run so rich. They have since changed this in the RX-8 renesis motor, so its not as sloppy.

the best way to shoot out flame is using a fuel injector connected before the exaust and a spark plug and a coil and a flip of a switch and the pump go and sends a spark and flame will be pushed out trough the exaust from the air flow
