Hmm...sounds like another strong acid I know of: stomach acid. Drinking coke isn't bad for you. Like anything else it is fine if taken in moderation. Plus, it has been scientifically proven that if you drink a coke (or other caffinated beverage)before going for a run or any other type of aerobic activity you will burn more calories and generally increase performance.

WHO scientifically proved that coke makes you burn more calories? Where did you come up with that info. I'm pretty sure olympic athletes arent chargin up with coke just before they run. If anything it gives you more calories to burn... but i cant see how syrup and carbonation would help your metabolism.

I think that a can of coke has about 100 calories, consideing it isn't tough to burn 1000 calories on an hour run or an hour of soccer or an hour of biking, drinking a coke isn't going to make you fat but it will improve your performance.
Also, the reason olympic athletes don't use caffine is because it is a banned performance-enhancing substance. check out these links:
